Transform ordinary bottles into vintage apothecary halloween decor
Love creating for fall, and Halloween is a perfect time to get a little spooky – in a vintage, whimsical way of course!
This week, I went live on Facebook to show how you can take simple bottles or candles from the Dollar Tree and transform them into charming vintage apothecary bottles using the Vintage Apothecary Labels transfers from Essential Stencil. These labels instantly turn ordinary bottles into gorgeous decorative pieces that look like they came from an old-world potion shop.
And the best part is, that you can create this look too – no special equipment needed!

All You’ll Need:
- A few glass or plastic bottles or jars (recycle old ones – any size or shape works)
- Vintage Apothecary Labels Transfers from Essential Stencil (use my code WK21 for a discount)
- Paint or chalk paint (optional, for tinting your bottles)
- Embellishments like twine, cork stoppers, black netting, pieces from a Halloween pick, charms, fairy lights etc – anything you love
- A touch of imagination

Here is a quick overview on how I created my Vintage Apothecary Bottles:
- Prep your Bottles – Clean & Dry your bottles thoroughly, use rubbing alcohol to get any residue or oils off, you can leave them clear or paint them for a distressed or aged look.
- Apply your Transfers – The Essential Stencil Vintage Apothecary Labels are so easy to use! Simply cut out your label, position it on the bottle, and rub the design on with the burnishing tool also from Essential Stencil.
- Add Embellishments – Wrap twine or ribbon around the neck, add cork stoppers, seals, charms, Halloween netting, moss, spiders, glitter, or loose tea to make each bottle unique.
- Style for the Season – Group your bottles together on a shelf, tray, tiered stand. I styled mine using a Halloween table runner, a black vintage book, a riser, cat, bat & some Halloween accents to create a magical vintage potion display – perfect for any spooky-chic home!
